We relocated to the Washington coast last Summer. Fall was busy for us settling in, so this was our first camping trip to nearby Ocean City State Park. Beautiful scenery and well-maintained, there were very few campers here two weeks before Memorial Day. A short hiking trail takes you out to the beach. We scored a great campsite for two nights. It reminded Mrs Red Ryder and me why we purchased “Scarlett” in the first place! We plan to explore more of our new state soon.

Very nice...

ProTip: If you append "Tornado Red Vanagon" to the thread title, you will triple your view count because (almost) everyone loves Tornado Red.

Pretty Van you have there.

Better get cracken on your exploration goals. Washington is a huge state with tons of camping opportunities.
Don't forget to look around Mt. Rainer. I've camped around there and the views are stunning in some of the camp sites off of Hwy 12 in the Morton area.

We do LOVE the color! VW nailed it. Perfect red for this retired firefighter!

This was also the first outing with our portable 50L compressor refrigerator. As many of you already know, this solution for keeping perishables (and beer) cold is way better than a standard ice chest. Very Happy

Put on your list to visit Ohanapecosh Campground in the Mt Rainier Nat Park as that a amazing place to camp with hikes, nature walks plus 15min from Packwood for beer runs.

Thanks for the additional campground recommendations. We will be planning our next trip in the “Evergreen State” soon!

Don't forget to dip over to the east side of the cascades, it's a totally different world. We've got alot of 'dispersed' camping. Summers are usually hot down in the valleys, but skirt the east side of the crest and enjoy the dry side, mild temps, and usually a few less folks....
