I would be very interested in a vintage 12v that would work with the 67 hold down set up.
A Varta decal on a modern battery is the best illusion I can create.

Since villemi has not posted about this for over a year and the project appears to be dead, I'd like to show you guys what i did. Charles Rollins at Woody's Custom Shop has been making Optima Cloaking devices for many, many years and I was a bit surprised they were never mentioned here.

I have used them in my 356's for a long time and this winter got some inspiration for my Ghia when I saw this image of an original VOA 6v battery.

I bought on of the devices from Woody's with the intention to mimic this battery as much as I could. I recreated the graphics in Photo Shop and had a friend with a vinyl cutter make them. Rather than making and laying out each individual piece in the aqua color, he did a negative cut on black vinyl overlaid on the aqua so that the little parts would not be so delicate. For the front graphic it worked fine but for the graphics on the top cover it looks like a peel off sticker so we will redo that in the individual characters in aqua.

Here is what the device looks like from Woody's.

Here is what I came up with using that device

And here it is in the car.

It's close enough for now and looks much better than the bare optima as far as originality goes, if that's anything you care about.

Hi from Germany. Where can i buy a Box Like this?

I just bought this battery at Napa and the fit is great for the standard 6V metal top. I was thinking of a print as you suggest. However to get the ground and positive in the correct positions the smooth area for the decal is on the back. I think I will run without a decal for my 56 Ghia.

Thank you Everett for sending me the diagram. I was hopeful the the 6 Volt Optima footprint would fit in the standard VW Ghia 6volt. The optima is a bit large. I can look into printing the cases but it seems there is already a cover on the market from the previous post.

I will still look into options as well as Resin Printing the different battery badge logos.

Do you sell these custom 3D 6 Volk battery cases? I'm very interested in buying one.
