been living in the pines of Medford for the past 15 years or so. anytime I need to go to a VW event, its at least a 45 minute drive. But it is quiet and I can see all the stars at night so I guess life is good.
Lets not talk about taxes, ok? _________________ John

In Fanwood, Arlene Ct. Drove a Corvair vert and then a MG Midget while most of my friends were rolling late 60's beetles. After I moved away in the early 80's I had a friend's parents who would leave their split bus at Newark airport so I could fly in and drive down to Atlantic Highlands to go sail on a Hobie cat. fun times. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

I have lived in Bergen County, NJ all of my life. Not a bad place to live, really. Though I've seen many other areas of the country in my travels, no place is perfect in every way. There will always be a give and take.
Not wanting to jump down a rabbit hole, I'll just say I could "give" up NJ winters and taxes. But other than that, it's where my family and friends are, so it's home. _________________ 1967 Beetle

I found this thread looking for any mention of Specialty Motors, and said to myself wtf, is there even a reference to Atlantic City on this site. I was born in Atlantic City on the green property - Pacific Avenue. Around that time my father bought a red, bullet blinker panel brand new from Specialty followed by hand-painted logos. I never lived in Atlantic City, but went there for high school. I was raised Downbeach [Ventnor, Margate] and mostly in Brigantine. When I lived in Brigantine it was lots better than Mayberry. One drawbridge in, same bridge out. One traffic light essentially for the grade school, and the only meaningful gambling was the card game at my father's shop. No movie theater nor fast-food restaurants, a couple of bars and a bowling alley.
I much preferred the islands before legalized gambling. After graduating Rutgers, New Brunswick I took one last look at the fading shit hole while taking a job as a doorman at the Playboy Hotel & Casino. In the fall I continued school in NYC, then headed west until I ran out of land.
Now in Eugene, Oregon with 65 standard, 68 doublecab, 69 sunroof Riviera, 70 Westy. _________________ When you cross an Irishman, they never forget. I mean, never. |

Brigantine is still nice from what i have heard. I have been to Ernest and Son in brigantine for deli sandwiches/hoagies/subs whatever you want to call them. Good stuff |
Where I'm from that'd be subs. I'm certain it is nice. Just that so many homes have been crushed by the giant Monty Python foot, making way for Architectural Digest centerfolds and subsequent taxes. When I lived there the main places to go were Circle Tavern [giant chain drugstore which also knocked out the First National Bank of South Jersey and the Island Diner], Beach Bar [condos], and the Rod N' Reel {Hurricane Sandy, RIP]. Not sure at all where people go for their thirty-five cent draft Roll N Rock, Ballentine, or Schlitz ...maybe the VFW. But the beach and bay cannot change. I wonder what the beach badge fee is these days. _________________ When you cross an Irishman, they never forget. I mean, never. |

Jersey, where you pay to go on the beach! You know, while your down the shore. In Maryland, they say โgoing down the oceanโ. I guess because it usually means going to Ocean City. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3โ narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far
