Not to hijack, but is it ok to run w/2 shims instead of 3 if the endplay measurement is w/in the .003-5 range w/just 2 shims?

yes, but
I always use more thin shims if I can.
It leaves more space for oil film, and more shims lessens the difference in speed between each shim surface.
When re-shimming an engine, I set them a little loose, in case there is some bearing movement that was not detected.

I don't think I wrote my posts very clearly, my apologies.

The videos were taken prior to torquing the flywheel gland nut. After really torquing it, that movement went away.

Also, the flywheel was installed with NO shims. Not metal, and not paper.

Given the measurements I provided, it sounds like I should order either a single shim, or a set of shims.

But I am totally new to this. How thick should my shim or shims be to provide the correct endplay?

Put 2 shims in, then measure. Calculate for 3rd shim

Your final endplay should be .003-.005”

Install that metal gasket, torque to 250 ft/lbs, and measure. Subtract .003” from that measurement to determine shim thickness

Thanks!! Last question, my torque wrench tops out at 150#.

I measure 16" from the socket to the end of the handle, and I weigh 230.

If I apply all my weight to that wrench (feet off the ground) can I assume I got it to at least 250 ft pounds?

A torque wrench is not a breaker bar. It is a calibrated instrument. Treat it as such.

Fair enough.

If I use my half inch socket wrench and a cheater at 16" with my weight on it, will that achieve the 250 ft pounds needed?

You will break your 1/2 drive socket and breaker bar, you need 3/4 inch sockets and breaker bar.....

Or a Torque multiplier...

OR....

Easiest way to increase torque wrench range with extension would be to make extension "A" same length as dimension "L"... To get torque value you double value as to what torque wrench is set at IE:132.5 X 2 = 265...

Personally I have one of these, it can apply 4 times the torque at output as what is applied at input....IE:66.25 X 4 =265
