Sorry. that didn't help or answer the question.
My question is:
what color wire of the above color wires provide the power to the motor?

Look at the 1967 wiring diagrams a couple of posts below what jhoefer posted and combine those two bits of info.

that didn't help either.
I just want to know which color wire(s) I need to connect to the power source to test the motor, please.

On a 1972 Super Beetle the power wire to the motor is black/gray, terminal 53a on the motor. The motor may not run, or only run briefly then stop, if you hook power to that wire. Internally, it will only feed power to the motor until the wipers are in the park position. I believe the black wire, terminal 53 on the motor, is the the low speed power and the place to put power if you want the motor to continue running until you disconnect it. I'm basing this on reading this VW wiring schematic, and information from this user.

Warning: these cars are now over 50 years old and previous owners may have replaced broken wires. Previous owners often don't respect wire colors, so it is best to verify the terminal numbers.

it's a 72 VW super beetle wiper motor.

Seems the other bit of info needed is what are you trying to install the '72 wiper motor into??

I have a 67 ww motor and want to test it. I understand the power comes from the switch. Correct? So how can I directly connect the motor to a battery. Where does the positive terminal connect? Thanks for helping an electrically challenged individual.

A little more complicated than that due to self parking and dual speed.

This should cover that.

Just for curiosity- why is there a 31 listed (on far right in pic) but no terminal? Is that VWs way of telling you it’s a ground?

Yes I believe that's what it means. I just finished rebuilding my wiper assembly and asked myself that same question when I was putting everything back together. There is a copper (brass?) strip that goes from the mounting screw to the chassis to ground it because the assembly sits in rubber mounts.

Trying to finish up my wiring. Car is a. 61 but I’m using a 62 harness and upgraded to 12 volt. The schematic shows dome light wire connecting to 54 on ww switch. I m using a 67 wiper switch and it doesn’t have a 54 terminal any help to sort this out would be appreciated. TIA

Thanks Eand B. Saw that and used it but there’s no 54 terminal on the 67 switch. So I’m trying to find out where to connect the wiring dome harness per the diagram which shows a black wire to terminal 54.

If you look at that wiring diagram detail all but one wire goes from switch to wiper motor. Guess where that one wire that does not go between the switch and wiper motor goes to.....

As for where to connect the interior light positive wire it goes to to the fuse box.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Y is the interior light and the two Vs are the interior light grounding switches.
