I believe I found them. Do I get both with cut outs or solids? Is there a right and left?

Those all look like left side.

The hole is for the preheat hose to the air cleaner. Does your air cleaner have a fitting for a preheat hose?

DAWG, once you find the right side piece, run an M6 x 1.0 tap through each of the screw holes to clean out the inevitable dirt or often cross-threads from POs.

This is the air cleaner that I am using. Don't really know I thought the hose that came of that fitting ran to the hole on the tin shown in the second picture

I tried to fine those air deflector tins but no one has them both so while waiting on them to come in I decided to go ahead and install the engine anyway hoping that I would be able to install them after. As everyone knows in the VW world it's not all plug and play you have to make adjustments. The engine had to be taken out a couple of times to shave the tranny, so the engine didn't want to rotate freely also the spacer I had for the carburetor was to tall so it shortens the length of the accelerator cable. I need to find a shorter spacer or grind away at the ALT is what I don't want to do. Sharing some pictures

1. I'd look for, or make, a shorter spacer.

2. Did you check different-year Beetles accelerator cable lengths? Sites like JBugs.com list the actual lengths.

3. I have a single Weber 40DCNF in my 1971, and I've been using an accelerator cable extender since back in 1976 with no issues. https://www.jbugs.com/product/3171.html

Took he out for Easter ride around the Hood and the clutch hook snapped then trying to push it back to the house I noticed the deck lid was extremely hot, I couldn't lay my hands on it. Does the engine have an overheating problem or I am over thinking things. Don't touch lid with the palm of your hands after 50 mph for 10 min... I think is time to do the pedal shaft upgrade.

The pedal stop that the Big Boy was shipped with didn't work for me, so I had to make one. I was also looking around in the tunnel area and found some other stuff that need to be fixed.

I removed the spacer, and I was able to connect the cable now with no problem and it looks like nothing is hitting anywhere right now so I should be good. The spacer was on there when I got the engine, thought there was some kinda clearance issue.
