i have already pulled the housing for the switch and cylinder barrel. i have included photos...there is no small hole to insert and release the cylinder barrel. i have turned the key to the on position and tried prying around the top of the cylinder barrel to no avail. ready to pull the last two hairs from my unibrow!
maybe i am missing something. i have read almost all the posts concerning this matter.. any help will be appreciated

Just to keep life interesting, VW made a couple versions of those cylinder lock housings and one version doesn't have a hole drilled to access the locking spring to release the cylinder, so you need to drill one. I'm sure there's some threads here how to do it and exactly where to drill the hole. I wasn't able to find it. |

drilled the hole! key cylinder came right out!! inserted new one along with new switch. started right up like it was supposed to!! Its the little things that get cha!!
