I haven't touched the exterior of this bus since I've had it, let's see if there's anything to bring back.
I have never dealt with old paint, so i dig around online for a bit and decide to try out some boiled linseed oil
I take a microfiber cloth and some 3m polish (not pictured, sorry) and give it some elbow grease
Damn, it's almost to shiny. I don't know if I want the paint to pop this much on a preservation patina bus. But it starts to grow on me.
Anyways, my bible came today

Good to see you use your great bus already. Shiny patina is nice too, it keeps the body and the paint easy to clean and it's still patina. Maybe it could be helpful to use some CLR on the rusty parts of the body. |

Dude so sick to see this thing already ripping. I hope you can find an interior for her. I know franscico here on the samba has a full so23 kit for sale. But its so overpriced. Maybe you will get lucky? Also your in Utah? If you do decide to recreate im in Utah with bus often. Would be happy to link up and get you some measurements and such.
Keep on ripping. _________________ -1957 Prairie Beige Oval

Pretty cool you're already driving this thing. I see so many guys that dive into a big project and then get burned out years later and never get to enjoy the ride. |
I agree so much. Cool seeing how fast did you put it back on the road again. Congratulations and thumbs up!
And I am one of those not driving it… seeing you motivates me. Even if here it is not so easy because we have a technical inspection and that rust would never pass it. But my problem is other.
I am impressed as well about the linseed oil effect. Bravo!
Cheers! _________________ Freedom for the Catalan Countries
