Hello again. It’s been nearly a year, so time for an update. Not much to report really. I’ve finished the dash wiring now and just rebuilt the headlights.
I’ve also started filling and priming.
So annoying, but I realised the captive plate for the lower cargo door hinge behind the front arch in the last pic has slipped out of place and dropped down inside the pillar. I guess I’ll have to cut a hole from inside for access.

Hi, a few extra pics here. One of the engine bay and valance painted and a couple of the primered bits with the plastic off.

Hello. I’ve made a start on the can door repairs. A bit of rot on the bottom edge of the inner part of the door as usual, but also a load of small holes in the skin caused by moisture being trapped on the inside by the tar type stuff someone had painted all over it. Took me ages to scrape it all off.

Cab door lower section repairs. The inner repair sections are shite, they don’t even vaguely fit, I had to cut and weld it in several places. The outers are better though, but still took some work.

Hi all. Not a huge amount to report, but I have started to strip the hand painted blue off. I’m using oven cleaner. It works quite well. The original Sea Blue is in good condition mostly apart from dents and scrapes. Luckily, whoever hand painted it didn’t key the original stuff. Also, the oven cleaner seems to not damage the original paint, just the top stuff.

More paint stripping done. I’m using Mr Muscle oven cleaner. It’s working quite well. It seems to take about 3 coats to get back to the sea blue.

It’s awesome you’re saving this bus. Just because they aren’t barn doors doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t save them with the same amount of love.

Agreed! Plus I can’t afford a barn door bus now;)

More done. This is the last big section of old paint to remove. I’ve got a couple of small bits to do, but that’s basically it. Next is to flat the primer down and get some top coat on. Hopefully I’ll get that done in the next couple of weeks.
