Hi - can anyone throw any light on how this type of jack works - namely the base that you would expect to go flat on the floor has a metal rod protruding from it.

thats the jack handle sticking out , pull it out and it should become clear to you how to use i

some years bugs hold the jack upside down and you just store the handle in the hole like that . keeps em together . just wiggle n pull it out .

Brilliant - many thanks. I did try to get the rod out but it wouldn't budge. I'll give it another go.
