How you gonna latch it? Where do you put a spare tire? _________________ '63 Ragtop (current)

Nice work on that build. What do you mean that no spare is needed where you are going? |

This will be driven around town and to car shows if i get a flat then we will deal with it or get it towed. This is more form than function. |

For a stock beetle forward tilt hood, you may be THE guy. At one time I believe there were fiberglas forward tilt kits for Baja bugs. Patent your design. I'm sure there are plenty of us over 5' 2" that have dented our heads countless times on that hood while doing electrical work. Having a tilt forward hood would certainly be a lot cooler than wearing a helmet. _________________ Tom

I gotta agree with you Tom.
I believe the OP is the first to have a forward tilting hood on a steel bodied car. At least from what I have seen throughout the years of car shows I've attended.
The other forward tilting hoods I have seen are on drag race fiber glass one piece front ends. Those are still available. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I stand corrected! Thanks for sharing this. Wish there were photos showing the mechanics of the tilt mechanism, I do see lift struts though. Bagley, planning to do similar or something else planned to support the hood in the raised position? _________________ Tom

I plan on using a linear actuator to open it remotely i mean an app on your phone or remote control. With a switch on the dash also. |
