Post flood update:
The car is one more test drive from being my daily again. Saturday was about 40 miles on state hwy at 60 and in town with no issues. Next up will be a freeway run. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Glad that you got the house and Ghia stabilized after that flood.
Have you already noticed your speedometer difference to actual (local speed limit radar sign) due to the low-profile front tires? The difference will be even greater on your highway drive; 65 mph actual may show up to be in low '70's in the speedometer.
In the late '90's I drove my '64 Ghia alongside a rally-prepared VW with a very accurate prepared speedometer (Bill Collins' red Hebmueller in which he participated in The Great Race). When we were next to each other doing 60 on the highway, my speedometer showed about 62 or 63 mph. My Ghia had 15" rims with 185/65 tires. |

Yep. I check all my VWs because none of them ever have stock front tires.
This car is 4 mph off at 35 and 7 mph at 65. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

50 mile round trip, 25.5 mpg and I could grab the oil end of the dip stick without hit fingers.
I think that is a good sign _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Car stranded me, again, yesterday. Today, I sorted it out. 2 different issues: 1st- fuse block was floating in its place and randomly arcing on bumpy roads. Apparently when the PO labeled the wiring, he didn't bother to screw it back in. It is now secured. B- the brand new points I put in were so flimsy they bent and the contact surfaces were so misaligned they were struggling to make a spark. I put in some used German points and all is right with the world.
I think I can start to trust this car again. Whew!
On another note, the 72-74 dash pad should be showing up this week. It will be nice to have a finished looking dash area. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Received my 72-74 dash. I had no Idea it would have to be teim to fit. That is a bit of a bummer. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Can anyone tell me why an earlier quarter window rubber can't work on a 74?
They have half the price of the 72-74 versions.
Thank you. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

My ghia is taking a big step forward for refinement... it is getting interior panels in the morning.
It might be too classy for me after this. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"
