Restoring and Re-upholstering the seats in my ‘69 Bug convertible. The cardboard/tarboard material on the back of the rear seat is broken in spots and needs to be replaced. Looking for replacement material. (Photos attached)
Any suggestions?

I am looking for the same, with no luck, for 71 Super convertible. Looks the same. I will be following your thread. |

Looking at using 1/8” tempered Masonite for backing material. Use old back as a pattern and cut out. A little thicker but not sure what else to use. TMI Seat upholstery for convertible doesn’t come with a back. |

That doesn't look to be that bad if it just the one crack on the left side and the beaten up bottom section.
Somewhere on the SAMBA here someone repaired either the frunk cover or door cards to maintain originality using PVA glue and some thick cardboard.
From memory they cut the cardboard up into small pieces and the wet the cardboard and ran it through a blender to make a pulp. They then made repairs with the pulp allowing it to dry.
I did something similar on my wiring cover but have no pictures of it now. It looked ok after I painted it. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery
