I've been wondering the same. It's certainly unusual for a guy with multiple VW projects and a years-long history of averaging several posts/day to just go dark for months out of nowhere. Hoping for the best, that he's well and enjoying life somewhere off grid for a bit. I always enjoyed his builds, the details that he covered and his creative ingenuity to make things work. |

We used to share NC things and advice through emails.. I've been hit and mis on the Samba these days ... I needed a break for a few reasons.
When I do log on I just cruise mainly and weed through the same stupid tech questions and all the forums..
I noted this topic .... so immediately I reopened my old email chain to find his contact.... I'm happy to report... I got a reply... He is alive...
Ill point him this way.. and he can add more if he chooses. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

Thanks for contacting Chris, Ken.
I too wondered if he was doing well but, didn't want to pester/bother him. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Hey y’all, thanks for thinking about me.
I am fine.
Seeing the writing on the wall with modern vehicles (my bread & butter) & the parts availability for them (The manufacturers are dropping parts out of their catalog after 6-7 years, and the parts are so complicated that the aftermarket world isn’t picking them up.) I have accepted an offer on the property that the shop is on.
So, I have been busy clearing out the property (18 tons so far of good engines, transmissions, & all sorts of other parts that are no longer desired since no one is really doing much with those cars (yes, that hoarder thing in the sig line definitely applies to me.)), and at least another 40+ cars, selling what I can, & crushing the rest. I haven’t even gotten to the tools & equipment yet , or where to put it all.
With the dead nuts reliability that I’ve enjoyed out of the TD swapped Caddy (The green latrine) for the last 45,000 miles, (yes, it’s been hauling all that crap to the next town), I’ll be returning to the forums with a turbo diesel swap into the ‘69 bay I acquired last year. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.
GOFUNDYOURSELF, quit asking everyone to do it for you!
An air cooled VW will make you a hoarder.
Do something, anything, to your project every day, and you will eventually complete it. |
