Thanks for that input. I think we can still change the radius. My tinker is pretty talented. Is it about 10mm radius? |
I finally just went downstairs to view my Ghia's engine side panel. After placing a US penny, nickel, dime, and quarter against each corner of the panel's depression and viewing with a flashlight, IMO the nickel best conforms to the corner's curve.
I recommend that you don't bother with trying to change the corners' radiuses. Very, very few people would pick up on the difference with the radius, if it is truly noticeably smaller than a US nickel. I think its more important that the pressings' corner radiuses match /are the same between the left and right panels. Both panels look to be well done anyway. |

@Rome,
I had showed my tinker the pics you posted and based on that he has already modified the corners to match. Will post pics tomorrow.
In the meantime, we are assembling the jigsaw puzzle of the various panels that comprise the lower rear of the car body.
One question I have based on this reference pic I found in the gallery:
The vertical panel where the bumper bracket mounts is not aligned with the outer edge of the battery tray. It seems to be angled inward at the rear. I would love a confirmation on this plus a measurement of how much it is angled inward. Eyeballing it - I would guess about 10-12mm.
Thanks,

I checked TRS63's build thread for his '60 Ghia for this area. Although he works on the rear bumper mounts, his photos don't show the joining area of the vertical bumper mount panel to the outer edge of the engine side panel...
There's another Ghia build on tS on which the owner cut away most of the right rear quarter panel outer skin to reveal the inner panels, but I could not find it in my searches. I think it was on a late '60's Coupe, and within the past year.
Does your '65's RIGHT side vertical panel have the same inward taper towards the rear?
This one's a '58. Despite the low lighting, there does not appear to be any inward taper on the bumper mount vertical panel.
