late reverse shift lever rail box

searching Weddle I see a shift lever box with a rotational stop on it is this a worthwhile upgrade?

Upgrade from what?

They are selling a reproduction of a stock part. The extra tab to stop it from rotating isn't necessary because the lever in the rectangular hole stops the reverse shift rod from rotating.

VW must have decided it was needed on later type 1 Transaxle with the late 113 311 581D lever or the replacement 113 311 581F lever that has the pin that fits into groove on the reverse idle gear.
It also can be used when installing the 091 gear carrier conversion to a Type 2 Transaxle to use a type 1 shift housing (nosecone). It is what I used.
