I know plumbing, cooling and exhaust work is necessary. I don’t mind removing my fenders and rear apron. I just want to know if it can bolt on and spin the beetle transaxle

You'll have to add a pilot bearing in the flywheel, the beetle input shaft is too short to reach the one in the end of the crank.

Is that it? I have 2 extra pilot bearings for the original engine I accidentally ordered. Will those fit?

Dude, I already explained much of what you need to install that T4 engine in your 73, on reddit a little while ago.

No, the shaft will still be 12mm too short, either press a custom bearing into the flywheel, or install a type 4 input shaft in the transmission (not sure if bus shafts fit in beetle trans')

Bro you dropped the most useless “advice” that ive already figured out myself. Why are you coming here to try and sabotage my post??? I just want a proper concise answer from someone who may have done this before.

Brother you straight up told me you didn’t know if it was gonna fit but was gonna cost me money (shocker!) and came in here acting like I already got my answer to the question to scare away people who were potentionally going to give me actual real help with a nice paragraph and links. You may try to be helpful but you lack common logic

This little 'detail' could mean the difference in big money being spent just to tell if this engine is 'worth' it or just additional money being wasted on a 'boat anchor'. Confused

The people who gave advice looked at that picture and thought, "oh god this poor soul doesn't know they're about to invest time and money into an absolute boat anchor and have absolutely nothing to show for it after wasting their life on something that will never meet their expectations."

They just used different words.
