Hello,

I am almost ready for painting the engine compartment in my split bus.

I sanded everything and sprayed 2 coats of epoxy primer.
Did it with a spray gun but i ended up bumpin in to everything when i wanted to spray the tiny spots and corners
Because its primer it sands out easily but i don't want to bump against everything with final paint.

I have seem some good results with spray cans so does anybody did it before and can tell me how many spray cans i need?

Thanks!

There are smaller spray guns for confined spaces

I have used krylon and rustoleum spray cans to paint many things over the last 50 years. It is pretty good stuff and easy to touch up it it gets damaged. I would say get at least 3 normal size cans. Try a small inconspicuous area first to make sure it is compatible with the primer you put on. Wear a respirator in a confined space like that. Good luck-Bob

There are places that will put real auto paint into spray cans for you... Or, buy an airbrush gun, can't get much smaller than that!

I used some of that original color paint that is mixed and put into spray cans a few years ago on one of my civics. It has held up pretty well but is now starting to crack. If I recall correctly they are a lacquer based product and you put a lacquer based clear on top. At the time I bought it it was about 4 times the price of a can of krylon or rustoleum. I live in North Carolina and the car stays outside so it gets some pretty intense sun, so I would say all in all it held up pretty well and the color match was good.
