I recently got a 1976 Thing built in Mexico. It came with new horsehair padding and covers, but they don’t seam to fit. All the frames I see do not have a cross bar at the back. Has anyone see thing frames like these? I am thinking maybe they are high backs and the PO bought low back pad and covers.

They look like early beetle seats missing the lower cross bar .
