I would want the entire album for the shop mix. But I also want to make sure the artists get paid for their work, and all of those working behind the scenes to make it all happen. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

That's probably why our opinion diverge... I hate instrumental tracks (same goes for NIN). So Fear Inoculum is meh to me.
On the other hand, i discovered A Perfect Circle's live 3-CD on spotify a few days ago. Now that's worth listening. |
I will have to check that out, I like A Perfect Circle. _________________ Brandon |

Every time I listen to this new one, it sounds more and more "comfortable" making me feel less and less engaged. Worn out formula grasping for relevance, bordering on New Age noodling.
Maynard needs to go work at a day labor outfit , busting his ass for inspiration, for a like a year. Then he will have something to write about that connects.
A big step down from 10,000 days ( my favorite after the early stuff ) in my book. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Ok Invincible is a really good track ( maybe because I'm aging and getting "there"). Trying to give it another chance or 2... _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

So far, Invincible and 7empest are my favorite tracks. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

So, I got a hard copy of the new album for Xmas. Nice to hear it in its entirety, and in order.
Sounds excellent in my shop, though my current speakers have a slight pop/cutout in the right channel at higher volumes. Gotta get my neighbor to help with an issue on my old giant pair of Sansui speakers.
Anyway, I am really enjoying the album. It seems I hear something a little different with each listen, and now that I am hearing them over "the air" as opposed to headphones, things sound even more different.
Good times. Invincible is still my favorite overall. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

Still listening, still enjoying, still hearing new things with each listen.
Just watched this on youtube. An amazing and beautiful take on "Descending".

Not sure what spurred me to look up this thread, but here I am. This CD is still in my shop stereo, and still gets played. It has not left since I got it almost six years ago.
I admit I have been enjoying some reaction channels on youtube listening to Tool for the first time. Almost feels like hearing them for the first time again.
Also, Descending has overtaken Invincible as my favorite track on Fear Inoculum. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

You can burn the CD and send the artist the money. That will pay them more than Corporate Taco Bell pays them, like Amanda Palmer _________________ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ π π π |

I haven't a clue what that means, but I have a hard copy now so it doesn't matter anyway. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

I will let you know when I figure it out, now that Im sober
Honestly, I salute your character for making sure your money goes to the artists. I spent most of my life not understanding all the people who make music and how crappy the industry is to them.
Amanda Palmer got her contract cancelled with a big player, but could not collect on her music as part of that settlement. She took a chance, released all of her stuff for free, and asked people to pay if they liked it.
She did well. The Man got cut out. _________________ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ π π π |

An interesting thing I have been pondering recently is what constitutes art, and how should one get paid for their art. A street corner musician might only get pocket change for their talents, while massively successful bands make millions while relying on hundreds of others to promote and produce their music.
Then you have a guy like me, that built houses, cabinets and furniture for a few decades. I got paid once for my art. Should I get a cut every time someone looks at my art, just as a recording artist gets a cut every time someone hears their song on the radio?
Then consider the lady that built a beautiful sculpture to be enjoyed at a city center. She got paid once, but that sculpture gets seen hundreds of times a day. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

I think that creating art is one thing, selling it is another. It is up to the artist and those who are interested in purchasing the art to strike up a business arrangement which is acceptable to both parties -- same as any other business deal.
If the proposed transaction or business arrangement works for both parties, then you've got a deal. However, if it isn't acceptable to one party or the other, then it's "no deal" -- simple as that. "Supply and demand" economic dynamics are usually a significant factor. _________________ 1971 Standard Beetle β fairly stock / driver

That is a good point. And it applies to what we are seeing in the music industry. Artists are no longer getting big royalty checks from radio airplay and actual record sales. Streaming services now pay pennies for art, so artists are touring with massive ticket prices and selling merch more than ever before. Some artists are stuck in the old way and bitching about it, others have embraced the new reality and have focused on that slice of capitalism. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |
