What about these?

Those would be far better than the stamped chromies. The large filter will make it really tight around them when trying to adjust, but they should work well.

Just so I'm clear on this, the thicker billet base would make for a tighter seal and prevent un-filtered air from getting in and clogging the idle jets? _________________ 74 Super

I'll give them a run first and if I like them over the kads, I'll order the billet filters. _________________ 74 Super

Bringing my old thread back to life.
My dual relief AS41 case is with my machinist to be bored for 94's and decked.
I have the following parts to use for the build:
- DPR 69mm CW crank
- DPR balanced stock rods
- DPR lightened flywheel
- This exhaust: https://store.vintagespeed.com.tw/38MM-HEADER-&-SUPER-FLOW-1-9-FOR-BEETLE-57-35-p132807509
- CSP Pacemaker Bluetooth (123 internals) distributor
- CB 2239 (post 2020) and matching lifters (broken in and lightly used) - could go with something else if it makes sense.
Planning to buy a 94mm AA kit.
Looking for suggestions for cam, heads, induction.
Not necessarily planning EFI for this build for now. Thinking maybe some Sherryberg china 40mm IDF copies.
Going for good low end power, nice driver. This is going in a super beetle.
Advice appreciated. Thanks. _________________ 74 Super

Yes, I reached out to Brian_E about those earlier this year. If he's still offering his work on these, I will likely go that route.
With those, do you think I should stick with the CB 2239, and run 40's? _________________ 74 Super

Fixed panchitos would be fine, but I will toss Tims ported 37x32 heads into the suggestion pile. Especially with the smaller 2239 cam.
The Tims heads will be the only real bolt on solution. They will be flycut to your exact spec, and they will be beautifully blended and ported. He also does the manifolds if you send them to him.

Going with a different cam isn't off the table yet.
Any other cam recommendations for this build? _________________ 74 Super

My idea of the perfect 1915cc engine is pretty much what you have in your parts pile, but add a web 163, 1.3 rockers, Tims 37x32 PORTED heads and 40mm IDF's. Make it 9.0:1 with a .040" deck height, and you will be right up town.

Nice. Thanks. What lifters work with the web cam?
Also, when choosing china IDF's, are sherrybergs the ones that people seem to have success with?
My last set of spanish IDF's was crap. _________________ 74 Super

Tim is a great guy to deal with. I have his S2 heads for my 2180 & will be ordering the 37x32 for Isaac's 1776 |

I run all web cams with CB light lifters.
I have been using IDF's off amazon.

I'll likely try the amazon IDF 40 clones and Tims 37x32 super stock heads (is it worth paying for the polished option?). Will keep my CB 2239 and matching lifters since they are already broken in.
Going by the rule of 3-5mm smaller than intake valve for venturi size, I'm thinking of the following for a starting point with jetting.
32 venturis
50 idles
135 mains
200 airs
F11 e-tubes
Look ok? _________________ 74 Super
