Since my '70 (w AFAIK a stock 1600 dp) came from sea level up to 6000 ft +, I followed recommendation to " reduce air and idle jet sizes by 5 ", per A/C.net topic. It has a flame thrower dist and coil. Carb is a new chinese 34-3 clone.Runs great about town but yesterday I did a long distance hill and was floored at 47mph in 3rd, but could not gain to over 52 mph in 4th and was slowing. This all in comparison to my '70 which will blast up the same hill at 65-70 without strain, and it's running 009 and 34 pict 3.

So my concern is ---having changed main from 127 to 122 and idle from 55 to 50-------- ------- is she simply fuel-starved under load? Since idle seems OK should I change ONLY the Main back to 127 ? I checked timing and advance to 3500 rpm and it looks good. Running all my Bug's on alcohol free gas

Swapped the 122 main to 127. Found during test drive that acceleration was noticeably better, more powerful. However, when getting up on the hill , resulted in slowing down to 50 at full throttle. So I figure a compression test is in order. Any other? Can't see going over 127

Otherwise-- she runs and shifts great, starts immediately, and is zippy around town - but my other 2 bugs def hit that hill much easier
