and my 77 westy is "chuggin" in 1st and 2nd - stuttering on takeoffs. I drove it around for a bit and it seemed to clear up - any idea on what happened?
Before the oil change (about 800 miles) i had the cylinders replaced (rebuilt) and it was running very smooth - great acceleration, etc. my mechanic is about an hour from me so he said after 800 miles have the oil changed and so i did. i used 20w50 and and oil and air filter from bus depot. The mechanic i went to is very competent and said he had no trouble changing the oil.
So , now, while driving home, it was stuttering in first and second and didnt feel as powerful as before. Could he have screwed something up from a simple oil change????
-- i just returned from another trip out to the store and it seemed better, but then on the way home, it started again?? Any Ideas??? |

the mechanic stole yuor new engine and rplaced it with a bad one. but really i dont know, did he adjust the valves also? at any rate i would take it back to the place and tell them they fucked it up. _________________ Current ride:

The mechanic probably checked the air filter and knocked a vacuum hose loose. Most oil change places always check the air filter and this happens a lot. I have done this before when checking the air filter. Check all the hoses attached to the large intake elbow and make certain they are all connected tightly and not leaking. You symtoms sound exactly like a small vacuum leak, but since the bus will run then chances are a hose is only loose rather than completely disconnected. Good luck with your bus. _________________ "Well, we shot the line and we went for broke

You might try moving the fuel injection wiring harness around, I had an intermittent problem like this when the harness aligned just right with one of the sparkplug wires. |
