Woh, do you do paint and body work for a living? That came out better than taking it to a shop. Great work |

You did a great job on those and all of the other metal work you did on your bus. Ive been thinking about making my bench seat into a walk through... At least now I have something to go off of. Great work!! _________________ 1971 Bus - Seamore

Your work looks excellent, but makes me sad. I would have traded two walk-though buses for an OG non-walkthough. _________________ OGST

and.. now I am thinking of quiting my day job...

Well done! Making what you want (not hacking) works for me. I know of an original paint '70 deluxe that is a non-walk-thru. When I buy it, I have the donor..... _________________ ---

Well, I came in here all revved up to tear you a new one, but I cant complain about that metalwork. Thanks for nothing!!!
For the record, the non-walkthrough westies have the most killer combo cabinet Ive ever seen. I would LOVE, to have one. But that is a clean sectioning job you did. Gotta hand it to you, with all the hacked crap out there... |

What is going on with this steering column? Is it telescopically adjustable or something? |

It looks like a steering wheel lock that attaches to the column. Interesting.... _________________ "Beer is proof that God loves us and wishes us to be happy"- Ben

This was no Westie bus but it is going to be our steel tent for the next meeting season!
At the steeringwheel there was a lock. That goes from the wheel to one of the pedals. it isn't connected to the column.
Sorry Donor bus is used by 4 people and it is gone now....
Did some other work on the bus yesterday evening.. got to keep on going..:
Home made V-dub club?? yess starting to look like it

wow man! guess i have to jump on the band-wagon too! like most i gotta tell you, that is one of the BEST jobs iv'e seen in some time! but like somebody else said, i would've traded TWO walk throughs for an OG bench anyday! bay bench seats are rather uncommon. either way though, at least it's not a hack, you did a superb job! _________________ Aircooled VW: more expensive than CRACK!

Exactly. Over here in the states, walk-thru bay window (type 2a) are the norm. It's incredibly rare that we see a bench seat model. Around '68 VW no longer imported the single and double cab truck models due to restrictions imposed by the U.S. government. In fact, the only way that we have Bays here is that VW called them "station wagens" _________________ "Beer is proof that God loves us and wishes us to be happy"- Ben
