Has anyone got a picture of it?

Featured in Hot VWs around 1992 under Northern Warrior or Weekend Warrior feature.

Was a black oval ragtop, and had a one off interior that Bert built himself. The wheels were polished Fuchs and the bottom half of the doors and quarter panel had a jigsaw pattern which had been polished into the metal.

Love to see a pic?

Stu

I remember that car. I have the HVW mag with it in it.

weird ass front seats that could lay out flat.

To think, I use to think that was bad ass back in the day.

Thats the one, had a display that went around the car in the same style as the interior.

In fact im sure the car was also in Trends with a show car diary with Berts and a peach budget show car. Showed Bert getting the car ready a week before the show, and taking each day to clean and detail different parts of the car.

Bert's '57 was featured in the April '92 issue of Hot VWs. I remember seeing that car at all the VW Jamboree's at the Orange County Fairgrounds. If I had a scanner, I'd post the magazine article, unfortunetly I don't Crying or Very sad

Wasn't that the one with the seats that looked sort of like blocks? I saw it for sale at Pomona in '95. Didn't that guy do interiors?

I remember reading the article on detailing before a show. I think the seats were blue and looked kinda like blocks and the panels were white. For some strange reason, I can remember the posters he had hanging in his shop, (which looked like it had carpet). One poster had a 3-wheeler and another was of an 80's looking chick. I'll see if I can't find the mag.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Were they blue...thought they were black?

Bert also worked on a nice yellow and white squareback Hot VWs cover car.

Is that Kenny Pfitzer (spl) 23 window samba in blue n white still doing the rounds. Had a chrome plated beam and white interior. Think it was shown under "Wet Dreams" at shows, and was part of the Cal Look Special Feb 93 and VW Trends "Resto Custom" special.

Thought I would add those in while were getting nostalgic over Berts black oval.

Very Happy

Those cars do bring back memories. Who remembers the Black '55 oval & Black Karmann Ghia with full-on Brass plating throughout? Not Larry Shaws full custom from the 80s, but the cars from San Diego built in the early 90s? I think the owner was Richard Ramirez or Martinez?
