Looking at performance upgrade. Narrowed it down to dual ICTs or single IDF. Any suggestions? Does IDF have vacuum port to support VA Distributor (I'd like to keep that)? Which choice is a better option for mild performance upgrade. Easier to tune, smoother running, chokes, etc. Thanks in advance.

Get a 009 or 094 distributor. what size motor are you running? 1600 is good with 34 ict's and 1776 -up is god with idf.

I wouldn't recommend either.
The Ict's will not give you much of a boost in performance. You will only get better performance at WOT(wide open throttle) which will cause you to get bad gas milage. If youe ever go to a bigger motor, you can't use the ICT's. Also they have no vaccume, but I'm sure it could be added.
The IDF's are great carbs. That being said, They DON'T work well in a single centermount situation. It can be done, but the long intakes like to ice up and drop atomization. It is VERY hard to correcty jet and tune a single IDF. I woulnd never recommend them. They also do not have a vacume advance, but you can add one.

Check out the Kadrons from http://www.lowbugget.com Kad's can be used anywhere from 1500 on up. AJ can add a Vacume port. They are very easy to tune and AJ will jet them for your car.

And Yes I would say to stick with the Vaccume advance, you'll get better driveability and Gas Milage. The 009 is a one size fits all dist. It works on everything. But what other Car out there dosen't use a vaccume advance? No dispespect to Adam, The 009 was thought to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but in reality, it's just milk toast

oh, or you could save up your money, and get a New set of dual IDF's for $459.

Or look on this site and ebay for used IDF's, or Dellorto DRLA's.

Dual 36 dellorto, Change the venturies to 26's if you can get them that small(CB PERFORMANCE), 110 mains and a 170 air correction jets and your stocker is pushing 80-90mph. Put in the 009 and forget the vaccume. Sound like your after performance not economy.Erik G is absolutely right about the kadrons their just as good right out of the box, But the double throat dells look better doing it.

i've 34ict's on my 1600 bug and she's fine part from idle to lowish-med revs.won't pick up well due to 009 using wholly mechanical advance mechanism. this can be cured by changing the low speed advance spring but it's a lot of mucking about and will never work quite as well as vacuum advance.
hope this helps u make up your mind.

Thanks all for your thoughts. Since I have a mildly stock engine, 1641cc, no perf cam, I think I will stick with my stock carb for now. Thanks all.

I would say kadrons for your motor. They also would work well on a mild 1776. I had bad luck with a single idf. Dont buy dellortos there tough to get parts for.
