I just put in a new solex carb onto my 1600sp
I have a problem with backfireing and loss of RPMS every once and a while. This generaly hapens when I drive at a constant speed for long periods of time such as 60 min., and down shift when I am stopping for a light or stop sign any insights into this problem would be helpful thanx |

Tell me what distributor did you use and what Solex did you put in? Typical combination 34 solex and and a dual port distributor on the vacuum canister one is connected to full vacuum and the other to ported vacuum. If you are using a mech advance only like an 009 it wont work. There is a modification you can do for a 34 if you have that combination. For trouble free combination I have a 30 solex and 009 It gives better mileage and you wont feel that much difference. |
