Someday soon, I'd like to be able to resurface Westy cabinets and have a different look than the wood-grain. How would I do this? The moulding (or whatever it's called) doesn't seem as though it'd like to come off and then go back on again. I've seen that other people have done it. Is there a secret?

you might be able to buy the moulding at a cabinet supply shop
im guessing that if your going to add a layer of veneer the moulding wouldnt be wide enough to cover the new edge |

The plastic trim along some edges? It's called T-trim, and it's available at cabinet supply stores in various colours and sizes, and some is even available at big box stores like Home Depot. You can also find some online, but last time I looked, the place I found had a minimum order of 100 ft or something like that. To resurface the cabinets, remove any loose or peeling sections of the old veneer (not all of it, it's hard to get off, and you'll gouge the crap out of the substrate, and have to level it anyways), fill the depressions with autobody filler, let it dry, then scuff the whole surface and apply new plastic laminate or veneer cut slightly larger than the surface you're applying it to with contact cement. Trim the edges with a router, and sand the edge a bit to smooth it out. Plastic laminate is used for kitchen countertops, comes in a wide variety of finishes, and can be found again at big box stores, or at cabinet shops etc.

Thanks Jeggers and Jeremy. I'll go take a look at Home Depot and see what I can come up with. I was under the impression that it was something obscure.
