| ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO USE TO REPLACE THE RUSTED BEAT UP CARPET RETAINER IN THE DOOR SILLS ON MY 63 BUG CONVERTIBLE? I CAN DRILL OUT THE SPOT WELDS TO REMOVE THE OLD ONES BUT DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT BACK. TRYING TO KEEP IT AS ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE. THANKS, DAVE. |

| I have a 59 vert that had this same problem. I had a guy at a fabrication shop make me 6 ft. of what looks almost identical to factory retainer, he made it out of rolled sheet metal. I then had to cut and shape the ends to fit the bends and had it spot welded in. Works like a champ. Any local metal fabrication guy should be able to do it. Just take him an old piece of scrap retainer. Good luck with the vert. |
