well, i was installing my new weber progressive carb, and it seems that my fuel pump is too tall. some one must have had this problem before. the fuel pump is to tall to allow the manifold to be pushed far enough forward(away from the fan shroud) for the carburetor to seat properly ontop of the manifold. the carb wont go all the way down before it hits the fan housing. if that made any sense. it is a stock fuel pump. i can't imagine that i would have to get an electronic fuel pump to make the progressive fit properly, but it seems it is the only fuel pump that will give me the room i need.
any help would be appreciated
thanks

I presume you are saying the manifold is hitting the top of the fuel pump and that you have the "mushroom head" model.
One thing you can do is get the 15 degree angle "mushroom" model and the proper (shorter) drive rod that is used on engines with Alternators... or maybe the earlier style non-mushroom head pump style if you can locate one of those. I think I have some pics if you can't figure it out... |
