I have a 78 vert and wondering if anyone knows if and where the fuel filter is located I cant find it ,my car will start and then die thought i should check the fuel filter before changing the fuel pump.anyone know?

If its like a standard beetle was in 76 and still fuel injected the fuel pump and filter will be up front close to the master cylinder.The filters I remember(it's been a long time) looked like a square box attatched to the fuel line.Hope that helps.

On my 1979 Super Vert the fuel filter is located behind the right front wheel, next to the fuel pump. The master cylinder is located in about the same location but on the left side. And yes, it looks like a square plastic box. Replacements are still available in your generic auto parts stores.
