| Ok, I am looking for the Year and HP. Also what does the "X" stand for. Basically any information on what this number means would be great. |

goto this link it has some info.... http://www.oldbeetle.de/intl/en/motor_dat65.html
just because the "H" says you have a 1500, thats when it was built new, if its been rebuilt, wich i bet it has, its prolly a 1600 now, almost all rebuild shops that use used cases, dont go by the letter in the number, so unless your motor is original and never been rebuilt, the # will only provide you with the date the case was made and what it originally was |

| The X probably means it was rebuilt, I sounds like it was at one time a factory rebuilt engine, they (VW) did used to do that once upon time. "H" cases were single oil releif, single port heads 1500cc from the 67-70 era, the 67's typically have small(6mm) oil pump studs and the later ones had the 8mm stud size. the HP rating was about 48-50HP.... You diddn't say what year car it came out of, or if it was one you just have laying around.... Does it have case saver inserts for the head studs?? If it does than it was definantly rebuilt, if it doesn't do not build on it with out haviong them installed.... F, H, B and AE cases are notorious for "pulling" Head studs.... |
