I am transferring a 2000cc upright engine in to my 1972 bus. I have figured out the engine tin but how do i support the engine on the under bar. Do i need to modify that as well? if any one has i would like to know in detail how you did this.

In a thread a while back some good information came up on how to do this, you will probably find it while searching. Basically, you use the bar/mounts from an early bay for support.

There's an adapter plate that attaches to the rear of the case from the moustache bar. no big, isn't AS solid, but reportedly would only break under ridiculous circumstances.

that plate will bolt to the case at the oil pump. this ad should include the filler plate, but doesnt. i have one of these spare, which i could send you, as i dont have the rest of it.

these adaptors are known to promote oil leakage, but you can solve that by:

1) using german studs (plate needs longer than stock)
2) grinding back the ears of the pump cover to clear the filler plate thickness
3) smearing a very thin layer of permatex aviation gasket sealer to the thin gasket between the pump and its cover.

That's still not going to make a type 1 bolt up to a type 4 moustache bar, you'll need a 68-71 bar and something to adapt it to the later frame rails. Or a 72-79 1600 moustache bar and mounts (good luck finding one in North america, uber rare).

Really? I thought that that was the whole point of the adapter plate, to bolt to a TIV moustache bar... oh, ok.

A plate does exist to do it, I saw one on a bus a couple of years ago, shoulda taken a pic.. It attached to the 3 case lugs and had the saddles for the angled rubber mounts, it was well constructed and cad plated, definitely not a one off effort.

Edit; Went digging in the gallery for the 71 bus I saw it on, found a pic of it when it still had the DTM type 4 installed (I saw it with a type 1 reinstalled after the hack), the mount plate looks very similar and seems to have holes for the type 1 lugs too, I thought it used stock rubber mounts though, Hmmmmm.

That's what Dan has, very handy if your engine does not have the lugs to mount an upright moustache bar but no help attaching it to the type 4 bar.
