Thanks for the pic. Maybe this will be the last time ever that people will see this icon still in one piece.

This hobby sure has had its share of pages turned through to date. I just hope that we can enjoy long and keep it alive for as long as we can.

Wow thats like watching a sinking air craft carrier, kind of sad for sure.
You know Nick I don't think the "hobby" is going away just yet, I have seen a number of VW's back on the road sense this gas price launch, seem folks are digging up the old VW in favor of the big SUV.
Not trying to thread jack, just keep the light burning brite in VW land. Dancing

Mark sorry about your bad experience with Rimco. I have never had anything to say bad about them. The VW world will feel the lost. Mark maybe you said something to them and that's where your problem might have started? Wink

1st time with this forum stuff. So correct me if I did this wrong...... I was just at RIMCO today to drop off 2 cases and was told that the building is in escrow and the person has 10 days to change their mind on the purchase. If this falls through they could be out by Aug. So if u have parts there dont sleep on them cuss it may be hard to get them back.

Look I am also Hoping that some the younger guys and gals pick this up and carry on with it. I don't have that skill set to do machine work and they are becoming fewer and fewer as time passes.
Out in rural America where I live it is even fewer.
Living 50 miles from the nearest freeway is great but has its disadvantages some time.

Everyone I know in the VW business is swamped. Couldn't be a better time for VW resurgence in my view.

Maybe i am missing something, but does this have something to do with RIMCO closing or the impact on the vw hobby?

Sounds more like a blog message?

Seems Like the inevitable is True!! I took my B case motor Parts to my Favorite Machine shop today=Rimco and Todd and Don gave me the bad news. The new owner of the Building has no plans on keeping Rimco up and running,so if someone out there in VW land has an Inkling for a Machine shop=Step up to the Plate. Otherwise as someone in this Thread stated, another VW Iconic establishment will trully become a thing of the past.

This week after the Classic Could very well be the LAST one that Rimco will be accepting Machine work. Looks like come monday they will have a shit load of 25 and 36 hp Machine work from Me. On an ending note 39 years in business is a true testament to a Quality Machine shop. I NEVER in all the years that I have had the pleasure of using Rimco in my Builds had a problem with thier work. Thanks Guy's

I am not the least bit worried. I am sure there will plenty of machines shops all over to lend help.

Sure sad to see them go. But all good things will come to its end ...sometime.

You should try to get a brigeport mill, it would be incredibly useful for workink on your vw engines.
