Ok, I just bought a 66 single cab and want to buy a set of Flat-4 BRM's. Is there a clerance issue with the stock style center caps? If so what can I do to solve this?
Also, I'm going to install drop spindles up front, but am not sure what to do out back. Is it better to buy a kit to eliminate the reduction boxes, or just retain the reduction boxes and move the trailing arms up a couple splines?
Thanks for any help! |

Contact Greg at vintagewarehouse.com, Greg has a wicked lowered single with speedwells.
I think he narrowed the front axle. |

the centercaps won't fit on. except the passenger side front. rear end has the axle nuts, front end driver side has the speedo nut. i actually tried deeper billet center caps, they too were too shallow and i thought they looked dumb. i've seen plenty of buses w/o center caps, including mine and i think it is perfectly acceptable. as for tires, don't hold me to it but 185/60s should work. after you put on the drop spindles, you may find that the front tires rub in the wheel arches on even the slightest bumps, an alot more with a passenger. beetle rear coil overs will help this temendously. you will raise it back up an inch and 1/2. it's kinda tough on the shock mounts but....as for the rear end. they will should go right on. a little tricky to get up behind the fender skirt. if you're not buying 5 brms, remember to throw a handful of stock lugs in the spare well. when ordering the wheels, tell them that they are for a bus, otherwise you'll get 12mm lugs instead of 14mm |
