| I'm thinking about buying an old body of a Beetle, and replacing the engine with a factory rebuilt engine with longer strokes that will cost $2500. considering the cost of a decent body,trans, etc...how much do you think it will cost to get on the road? |

This is the air-cooled equivalent of "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?"
How much work do you plan to do yourself? What tools will you need to buy? How much work does the body and interior need, not to mention the brakes and wiring? Do you want to just "get on the road", or do you want a vehicle that will be good as new? Are we talking about a super beetle, a vert, an old split or oval? give me some more info, and i can give you a better idea of what you will need to invest. In any event, remember "speed costs...how fast do you want to spend?" and "cheap, fast, reliable... pick two." these are the golden rules of the air-cooled kingdom. |
