Hi Guys as the thread suggests -I'm about to start a 64 and I have a stock 69 but I'm looking at making this one not so stock so to speak and just wondered what seats people have used for the Ghia's (mines a coupe) not worried bout runners and that I can fabricate -It's just that I got some lovely Leather seats from an Audi A4 but the base is way too deep to fit probably 6/8 inches to high ...any help would be greatly appreciated and pics would be priceless.

I used the seats out of a 2002 BMW M3 in my 59 Ghia. They fit in perfect and you do not need to remove the stock seat tracks from the pan. The tracks sit just inside the stock tracks and we drilled holes and bolted them from the side into the stock tracks. These seats are also electric, heated and have integrated seat belts. We were able to hook up the power and get everything working.

I used 1991 Pontiac Grand Am seats.

Not a very good photo but you get some idea. The seats fit in between the rails and are bolted through the floor pans.

Thanks for the compliment. I forgot to mention that I'm 6'3'' and have no problem fitting in the car with these seats. I can even drive it with the convertible top closed.

Good luck with your project.

I used '89 model Honda prelude seats in my '68 vert. I also used a set of GTI seats in my '68 coupe. The Prelude seats are a very good fit.

The stock Prelude seat tracks were held on with bolts, so I removed them and welded the stock Ghia seat tracks to the bottom. The plastic side cover on the Prelude seats covered the stock Ghia seat tracks nicely, and I didn't have to butcher my floorpan.

Can I ask what price range you paid for these seats from the BMW???

Procar, put in by the previous owner, it looks like they bolt in with no modifications necessary Question

These may have been welded in Question ....Don't know if they are stock mounting points or not. The two hex shaped items with the bolt and washer sticking out

Hey Guys thanks for the replies and pics - it's had my head twisted for awhile now But I found a set of M3's online and there as good as new -or so the sellers saying- a little bit saucy on the price but I think they'll be worth it -by the way my ghia is grey outside and has the VW red inside -it's more a wine colour but hey and these seats seem to be of similar colour so I might even get away with the original door cards and trim I'll post some pics when I see them .

I like those m3 seats, very cool.

wife's ghia came with Scat procar rally seats, nice seat, but too big IMO. I had a hard time driving the car with those in there. since gone back to stock .

it's called 'your local junk yard' Most are hooked up to a national database so you can go in and if they don't have what you want they can find 'em for ya from another yard. Cool

Late model BMW seats out of a vert. Found on cgslist. I did not have to change or move the OG seat runners but the seats had to be mounted about 1 inch too high for my taste. The difference in comfort is amazing. I just slide the seats with the matching upholstery back in for shows, after unbolting the replacements. Cost about $250 for a good set, well worth it. Good luck with it.
