The battery tray has a small hole in it and appears pretty beat so I was planning on replacing that. I cannot
attach rear apron due to this damage. I have no body work experience, but I do have a mig.
The gerson rear corner isn't high enough, I think? I would guess it can be hammered out but there is a good kink in the fold by where the engine lid meets the body. Any suggestions?

Big slide knocker with a wide hook for the edge & stud pins for the rest.

I'd also be happy I had a somewhat solid corner to work with. Wink

First off, I believe Gerson can supply a corner at a height other than his standard piece, if you'd rather replace it all. However, none of that damage looks terribly bad from the pics.

If you're replacing the battery tray, then I'd remove the old one (drill out the spot welds attaching it to the corner, this will also free up the corner metal for working. From there, do as mentioned above. Getting the taillight opening nice and flat looks like the hardest part of that...

I am thankful that my bus is a very dry bus I have seen worse here. I will have my engine together soon and don't want to drive it until this is fixed. I fear taking it to a body shop as I have heard horror stories

Just did the same thing to mine. Both corners got whacked. On the battery side we were replacing the tray so that was easy. Just a hammer and dolly and some torch and cold water for some metal shrinking. The other side was a bitch because we didn't need to remove the tray. Once popped in it's really tough to pull them back out. Ended up using a stud welder with lots of pins and a 5 pound slide hammer to slowly work it out. Got it to within 1/16" of perfect, then some filler. I don't think you need to replace any metal there, at least not until you try to work it. Go for it!

What are your goals for the bus? If you just want to drive it then get the apron to fit, looks like a block of wood and a mini sledge will do the trick. Then push, pull and persuade the tail light opening until a light fits in there.
I wouldn't let this corner keep your bus off the road.

two fold I want to fix it enough to drive it but also how much is involved in going all the way. A block of wood and a sledge is fine as long as I don't do more unrepairable damage
