Hi,
I would like to know if there is a name for the font used on the green Bus. It looks identical to the one used on the Beetles, Casey, are they the same? |

I was actually thinking about badges the other day. I was thinking about putting a custom badge on the front of my bus because I don't have one on the front. Wasn't there when I bought it.
Are there any places that do custom badges? I also have to think of what icon to put on the front of my bus. |

I am still alive. I am currently not making the emblems in plastic as they are just too fragile. I have been searching high and low for a company that can offer me services to cut thes in metal on a waterjet or laser machine. I have had no luck at all with that. If anyone can set me up with a fabricator I will surely give that person some complimentary emblems. I have the files in Autocad and can output them to any format needed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Funny you mention that.. one of my emblems on my brown bus broke this weekend while I was washing the bus. But it broke cleanly and a tad more glue and looks good as new. Well worth the price even though they are a bit fragile. But at least they break cleanly and don't shatter...
I like them Casey!!!!
Thanks a ton!!!

Thanks Wayne. Glad you are still enjoying them.
Yeah they are very fragile. Once I can get these in metal we will have no worries about breakage. _________________ 66 Westfalia

I work at a sheet metal fabrication shop and we have 3 laser cutters here. The problem with laser cutting metal is that you can not do it in 3d like you did on the later style fonts. The early style transporter font would work fine. You could make them in several pieces and spot weld them together, but that would be a lot of work!
Let me know if you have any other ideas on how to make them "3d" _________________ Brian

Hi.
I am a manager of a machinechop in Norway. http://www.uninor.no/documents/45.html
We have a few CNC machines that may make these badges.
Do you have the fonts in Solid Works format?
If you would like, you can email me some samples, and i can take a look on them. We have a lot of experience in aluminium, and we have free capasity now. (And of course my dailydriver is an T1 -73)
Best regards Webkongen |

That's really really nice of you. We should take this person up on their offer. Wish I was in Norway right now. Never been, but would love to go. _________________ Owner of: "The Party Pickle" (a 1979 2 Liter FI "Raby Camper Special" Sage Green Westy Campmobile) & "Charlie Brown" (a 1979 2 Liter FI "Rob Grant Rebuild" Agate Brown/Dakota Beige Station Wagon)

ok guys. Believe it or not I am still working on having these cut in metal. I have had alot of people write me emails about having these made. Honestly it is alot of work with my current configuration. Since they are plastic I have to draw, cut, primer and paint each emblem. It gets very time consuming for the payoff. Also being that they are plastic they are very fragile.
If anyone would like to purchase an emblem I am going to do another run but am going to just do the drawing and cutting part of the process. That way the purchaser can primer/paint it themselves whatever color they choose. Of course there will be a reduced price since they will not be painted. The cost of the emblems will be $2 per letter with a minimum order of $10. Shipping will be based on location and I will ship overseas.
Please let me know if you would like to place an order and send all emails to

I made one once, just for the hell of it. Didn't go so far as to match fonts though.
Stainless 3mm or something like that, DF taped on.
The 3d relief on the other ones looks amazing. _________________ BUS FOR SALE
