Toolbox, I can email you the exploded view of that hub if you need it. I am guessing you probably already have it.

In 2000 I ebayed my mint ivory and light red '49 hornet with phantom seat, springer, rocket ray and taillight rack. The plan was to replace it with a B-107 with fenderlight--black and ivory. I have a '48 World straightbar frame, nice original locking springer, redband kickback hub and a few other parts. Still collecting the rest, but it could take years. Much like VWs, ebay has has driven the value of original parts for these bikes through the roof.

I miss taking my cruiser out for ice cream, and wish I had never sold it.

Wow, look at this old thread.
Here are some pix of the bike I was talking about. I finally have them hosted online.

I have his and hers schwinn World ten speeds from the late 70's
(the wife's bike still has og tires on it and hold air just fine) but a bit of rust starting to form on the rims, what do you guys use to clean the rims that will not damage the crome? I have found that some crome cleaners can shine up just fine but a year later the rust is back ten-fold

0000 steel wool works great! I've used it on rims for a while. It's a lot of work (about an hour per wheel, depending on condition), but it is worth it!

At one point I've had over 35 at once.

I'm started to get away from the old ones a bit, and get into the late 90's Schwinn Homegrown mountain bikes.

Funny, I came in here to start a schwinn thread and there already was one....I didnt even have to search. Laughing

Anyway, I have a '52ish meteor that I got for free. I was picking up a 71 westy and saw it sitting there. Asked if he would throw it in with teh bus and he said yes. I ride it to this day, all original, skip-tooth chain etc.

Here it is with my single cab.

I just picked up a late 40's girls bike that I am going to restore. The girlfriend doesnt like the "patina" as much as I do and wants a "nice" bike. I told her "nice" is all original, including paint. O well, I have actually wanted to restore one for a while but I didnt want to strip the paint on mine, so Im going to restore hers.

Here is a link to the pictures of the new bike. It was missing hte rims when I got it, so I put mine on to show the girlfriend its potential. She would not have appreciated it had I shown it to her the way it was brought home. It didnt have wheels and the fenders were not on it. Anyway, its about to get stripped and redone, I just need some parts before I get started. Anyone have any 26" S2 rims for sale?
