For a '74 412 is there a gas sending unit that can be used from a different VW like a Beetle or does it have to be a Type 4 unit?

Not sure. The 74 unit was unique to these cars in that it is a float and arm type...as compared to the float and cylinder style (like type 3) like the earlier ones.

I would think there would be more than can be used in teh 1974's than in earlier. Can you post a part #? Ray

So far I can only find 411 919 049, but I think it's for a 73 and earlier and I need 74. I need the twist on type with the float arm.

1973 super beetle uses the same flange as the 412, but uses 2 different float arms. might be able to modify one to work though. and of course, the seal works too.
