I am new to the Beetle Forum (58-67), but I have been working away over the past few years on a full body off restoration of my european deluxe 54 Oval. With a year and a half, best guess to get it on the road I finally broke down yesterday and picked up a 1966 Bahama Blue beetle to use as a driver and for shows and club events. It is mostly original, but had been resprayed, same color. I have had to do a bit of work on it, but should have it on the road next week. I have some initial pics if anyone is interested in seeing our Bahama Blue 66, "chuck".
The 66 before I bought it, picking it up in PEI. I have the original bill of sale, the dealer installed the left side mirror and the popout windows as options, as well as seat belts and undercoating partially why its in such good shape.
Rear view of the 66, repop bumbers, but original 1300 engine under the bonnet.
Interior view, the steering wheel cover and the red mud gotta go. The Saphire 1 radio was another option on the original bill of sale, and it actually still works, wish there was more AM to listen to.
Here I am smiling face, starting the tow back to NS with the newly purchased 66. It drove perfectly behind the Beemer.
Second stop in PEI for a Timmies and let my wife check out a quilt shop, only fair I guess.
Can't wait to get him on the road next week.
Cheers,

Thanks all, It is amazing some of the bugs that have been found recently in Atlantic Canada that are in decent shape. So far this week, I have replaced the windshield (cracked) put 4 new radial tires on him, cleaned up all the electrical connections (still 6 volt) replaced the battery ground and the transmission to pan ground and recharged the battery. I have a couple of small brake issues and have to replace the horn yet, and then am ready for the mechanical check and appraisal for Silver Wheels. Can't wait to get him on the road.
Thanks all for the comments.
Cheers,

6Kabrio7 I intend on keeping it original, for better or worse I am an originality freak! I love the fact that the Saphire 1 still works and it came from the dealer, Charles Street Garage Company, in Boston Mass. with Pop out windows as well....very cool. I have the original Invoice.
Original purchase date Jan. 6, 1966, it is a November 65 bug. Serial 116376007 and original 1300 engine F0343142. Will post more pics soon.
Cheers,

Hey guys thanks,
Hey Tim, I heard someone just got that car in PEI I hadn't see that one for sale? I picked this one up in St. Louis PEI up near Tignish, off Kijiji. Its pretty nice, hope to have it "official" on the road in a week or so, my time to work on it is short right now. Where did the 58 come from, and is it really purple?
Cheers,

It may be ready, but I will be in St John's unfortunately that weekend. Timing really sucks on that one. I will have it out for the October meet first THursday night at the Bedford Highway meet. Is the 58 on the road?
