I have a very slight "catch" in my steering to the right. After about a quarter turn to the right. Doesn't lock , just seems to "catch" a bit. Nothing I can't overcome, but should I look at "greasing" the steering gear? Or adjusting it? If grease....what? And where? No particular "slop" in the steering ....just what appears to be normal "free play"

There are 2 plugs in the top of the box. Usually they are deteriorated and in trying to get them out they disintegrate and some may fall into the box... I never worry or have had a problem from this, they are so small and soft they can't cause a problem.
Then I squeeze a tube of "Lubriplate 105" in one hole and allow the air to escape out the other... when I get enough in there I use black silicone to fill the plug holes.

This works well for me! Very Happy

Keif: I found the upper hole. Just as you say the plugs fell apart, some going into the box. I removed both and pumped 90w gear oil into the bottom until it ran out the top hole. Made plugs from 5/16 OD vinyl hose , about 1/2 inch long, and installed a machine screw to tighten it in the hole. Plan to drive it a few times, and repeat the process, to drive out the crap in there. It wasn't empty, but it couldn't have been more than an ounce or two in the box. Thanks Smile

That's great... 90Wt works... I guess on older boxes I switched to the Lub105 on the ones that the lower seal dribbles on.
