| car looks incredible. Very motivating thread. Your build process should be on a sticky so it is not to be forgotten and other can be motivated by the amazing work done. |

Thanks.
It has been a while since my last update, but today I finally felt ready to take the car to the road authorities to have all the changes approved.
In Norway, the rules are really strict when it comes to changing a car from its original specs, so I have to have an approval for the wheels, the lowering and of course the engine.
After some weeks and months with e-mails back and forth, I finally got the green light, after some important documents from the brake system manufacturer and Norwegian importer were submitted.
So today I took the car to the local test station, and everything was approved
I still have to go through a regular bi-annual inspection to check lights and brakes etc, but that's just a formality at this stage.
So give it a week or two, and I am actually allowed to take this ting to the road legally
Here's a shot from when the inspection officer took it into the inspection hall:

And today I finally got the safety inspection done with a cleen sheet, and I got my plates and stickers, so now I can legally cruise the streets of Norway.
Oh happy day |

It is getting cold in the morning, and so far I only have j-tubes, and no heater boxes, but as long as the snow stays away, and it is not too many degrees below zero, I keep driving it to work:
Now even with licence plates

A fellow Norwegian VW friend wanted to hear what this CSP exhaust sounded like, so I placed my son on the side of the road with a camcorder and made a couple passes.
As you can see, there is still no snow here.
And I must admid, as car in movement looks a lot better than on a parking lot

Progress is slow here... I am working on a new engine, so that takes most of the spare time and cash at the moment, but I have a couple of upgrades planned before the snow disappears.
One of these upgrades, was to get some cruising tunes. And the plan is to use my old trusty iPod, and put some speakers into the rear.
I looked at some pictures of other Ghia installations, and came up with the following plan.
I had an old set of speakers lying around, and was thinking of something like this:
I liked the idea, so I went on and made a matching one for the other side, and even boxed it in a little:
(seems like I need to clean up the wiring for my EFI...)
Then I had an old 8-inch sub lying around, and asked a friend of mine, and he recommended a 25-30 liter box, so I put this together:
Not the prettiest thing around, but the idea is that this sub is to be removable, so that should I need the space, I can simply unplug and take out the sub, and I wil have almost the full luggage space available.
Now I need to cover these with the same material as my door panels, and I will have music |

Hey,
What tire size are your running at the rear. Is it stock height on the suspension? |

185/65-15 on 5,5" flat4s
Difficult to say if it is std, since it has been completely to pieces, but I assume it is about 1 outer notch lower than stock. |

Very quite here lately. Which is actually good news, as I have used the Ghia as my daily driver since Easter
I have covered about 7000 km (about 4400 miles).
Mostly without trouble, besides a minor engine rebuild in July
I have a small list of stuff to fix over the winter including fitment of new rear wheels, fix an issue with self-centering, new gear box, new seats and a few other issues.
Ghia driving is great
I made it to two shows this summer. One in a neighbouring town, where I even received a trophy, and the other was the SCC, and here is a shot from our club camp:

The engine has been a project on its own, and here are a couple of crappy mobile pics of the current setup. It is an 1835cc with 42x37.5mm valves and home-made EFI system based on a center-mounted throttle body from a VW Vanagon.
During the winter I will convert it to std t1 cooling and a pair of dual 40mm throttle bodies sourced from a Suzuki motorcycle. I like a challange
