This is awesome. I feel like I'm watching Dr. Frankenstein create the creature of his vision, though hopefully this will end with greater success. Smile

Are doka's that rare? Here's one for sale with german plates, 1600 diesel, 1985, decent shape for +/- $2000,-

Think I should start an export company, the biggest harbor of Europe is just a 30 min drive..

Cool build. How wide is the "new" sliding door? Seems narrow.

Yes, yes they are rare. Look up "Chicken Tax" in google to find out why.

Yes, yes you should! As long as they are 25 years old, it's not (in theory) hard to import them to the US... Unless you want to register it in Cali, that's probably another story.

it is narrow. gonna have to watch shoulders coming out, but plenty of leg room once inside.

notice in picture #1 how the door slants in the rear to give a more stream lined look? well i put the slider for the track on tonight to give her the old college try and come to realize that because of that slant, the door only opens 3/4 of the way. i can't add more upper track because it would have to run thru the structural pillar so i can either elongate the upper slide roller and add more track at the closing or just hinge the door off the pillar and everything that comes with that. if i ever do another slant door i think i'll hinge it straight from the get go. besides that i'm closer to closing the cab in. gotta get some steel to reinforce everywhere and decided to recess square stock down the sides of the bed so i can make bows for a canopy and ladder rack.

Blair (nineteen85) was not happy with the way the rear part of the roof was blending into the front section. He came over and took another rear roof section to work with, this time with more roof on it. He's quite an artist in that he is willing to redo alot of work to make it the way he has it pictured in his mind, or Loogy's photoshop. I give him alot of credit for that.

wow, dedication ! great ro see your forging ahead.
the proportions looked a bit off to me but I didn't want to say, cause it'd be a real bummer, or I could be wrong too...

This guy is SO getting my van for body & paint. Smile

Actually, I want him to use one of those camper shells in the background and build me a new Karmann Gipsy.

Tacked only because i don't want my vice grips stolen. it fits nice but was not easy nor close to being done.
