hello, I just rewired my 70 ghia (not the first rewire job i've done).

anyway, all wires match up and go together nicely except for the mystery wire coming out of the steering column. It is a 'thinner-gage' grey wire. It looks like if it coming off the turn switch.

I have not made the system 'hot' yet, but this one damn wire is driving me crazy. I can't find anything on it in original diagrams either.

Any ideas? Should I just suck it up and go 'live' and see what happens.
anyone... anyone...

thanks.

It's (possibly) the ignition key warning buzzer wire coming off terminal SU on the switch and going to the left door contact switch. Your switch assembly (or steering column) may not be original year.

I checked my Robert Bentley manual. It has an excellent color coded wiring diagram for later Ghia's. I actually have both manuals for early and late, anywho. If it is a solid gray conductor (wire) with no tracer it is for the warning buzzer for the ignition (when you forget to remove your keys). It ties into the left door contact. When you open the door, power is sent to the buzzer to do it's thing. If you trace the circuit it will tie into the door contact. Same switch for the interior light, but two different circuits.
Good luck
Rick
