very cool peter. any more photos?
i bought the car back around 2001 from xavier mente and sold it a few years later.
i saw it again in 2004 at the classic in ca. the new owner just sold it back to me in 2010.
it is in the same condition as in your photos except for a new muffler and new tires. |
I'm sorry, I don't have more photos, but I can send these two if you like.
Would be a pleasure for me; please pm me! |
Very very cool. _________________ Kevin "Wiggy"

Nice! But is that extra brake light really that old? I thought those came out much later, but I could be mistaken.... _________________ John Henry

I suspect the "period correct" third brakelight statement refers to the period ('70s, '80s?) in which Belgium probably required these older cars to have the additional reflectors and signal lights in order to meet safety standards and be allowed to stay on the road legally. |

That's correct, but the extra "brake"light is in fact a fog light or mist light that became obligatory, I think in 1967, on all vehicles.
If you'd run it as a third brakelight over here, it must be installed higher then the original brake lights and the minimum height has to be 0.85 meter. (No, I'm not a copper. )
Love that licence plate!! Shame we can't use them anymore here. _________________ Oval 54 Light Beige, Oval 53 Metalblue.

Piet&Som, you are correct about the fog light application. My '49 Belgian split has the reflectors and the rear-facing foglight that became mandatory in the mid-sixties in Belgium. In my case, the foglight is white. Have a look at my pics on the gallery. |

I'd remove them all, even if I was driving around with huge holes in the fenders. |

Hi,
Does anybody have a decent pair of the Belgian wing mounted rear reflectors for sale please?
Volksair, your '49 chassis number is just 39 away from my Belgian market car built on December 14th! It too was originally Pearl grey but is now black. Small world!
Cheers,
Andy. |
