so i was looking for a place to make my 14x5 in bus rims wider, 14x6 in and change the offset for the rear by 10mm. i called a few places, including stockton, someone here on the samba($85), tru design wheel, weldcraftwheels, and custom & commercial. Custom & commercial was the cheapest, 82 per wheel including powercoated white.
just letting y'all know. 19093573505 in fontana i think.

Front covers were opened to allow chrome dust cap to be seen.

Yeah, two tone. Blasted and Powder coated then painted the rim lip. Plus Coker White Stripe tires. Not cheap, but worth it. The wheel & tire combo set any car off.

Very cool color combo choice to go on the white car! Nicely done!

Definitely agree.

I see you chose the BFGs--I've used those and really liked them. The latest ones I've gone with, for my '70 Bug and also my gnarly project '69 Bug, are the American Classics, which look nearly identical, with the same 3/4" wide whitewall, but a little bit different looking tread pattern. I think I heard somewhere that the American Classic tread design was modeled after some obsolete Michelin tire tread, see below:

Thanks for the positive feedback, I am happy with the BFG's but I sure do like the cursive lettering on the American Classics of yours, really gives a true classic look.

I’m putting my wife’s (original owner) 72 std-bug back on the road, after 21 years of non-op status. My first step was getting it rolling! Being retired now, the overall cost is a BIG issue.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

The tires were rotten and the stock wheels were rusted. With a wire wheel in a 1/4" drill, I cleaned up the outsides.

I sprayed gray primer and two coats of metallic aluminum Krylon. Meanwhile I got a pair of early 4x130 Riviera mags from a local ad, and chose to use them on the front axle. After the paint hardened for a few days, all the new tires went on. Now I’m on a roll, and so is the car.

The look seemed out of balance to me; the painted rims were too bright, and I couldn’t find another pair of Rivieras to match. Time for more rattle-can, I decided. I laid down some masking tape, and sprayed flat black onto four areas of each wheel. (Note: if the aluminum paint isn’t quite hard, do NOT put tape on it [lesson learned with the spare]).

Close inspection shows all of the original slots, of course. However, at a distance, they blend into a background-like appearance. Just squint a little, to see what I mean.

I was able to recycle the 41-year-old stock rims by providing a contemporary street-look, and spent only about ten bucks on paint and tape. The lug bolts were freshly zinc-plated.

The last photo is after her first trip (EVER) to a car-wash, and is now a "daily driver in process". [faux-mag rear & early Riviera front]

I see what you did there. Cool spin on dressing up the factory wheel.
Do you have any pics with a hubcap on?

Because I wanted to complement the Riviera wheels on the front, I chose not to add hubcaps.

Perhaps someone else will give it a try.
