I'm on the verge of getting the Imp back on the road after picking it up last week, but to my horror, the tank was half full of nasty gas which I have drained, but now need to pull the tank to flush/clean the inside. Question is, how do I get to the backside (the most forward ones) nuts to unbolt the hood? Thanks for the help.

Any way you can..... Probably some one little with small hands that can hold a back up wrench on inside for you (If there is access) .....

Other option may be to take small cutting wheel and cut heads off bolts and poke them out.......

When you put it back together try brazing or welding a tab on to the nut so it can not turn as you tighten bolts.... Also a little anti-sieze on bolts so if you ever have to go into it again....

Thanks, Dale. I probably just needed the encouragement more than anything. It's only the first two front bolts, which isn't too bad if I have to take drastic measures. I'm hoping I'll then be able to tilt the hood up enough to pull the tank without messing with wires, etc.

I seriously doubt that you will be able to remove the tank without fully removing the hood. I would buy 3 or 4, 6 pin "Weatherpak" connectors and start putting the wires that run between the hood and the body to ease the hood removal.
