How long have repop latches been made for?

If a spoon latch is not stamped vw and no part number does that automatically mean it is a repop?

There have been several different productions by different people over the years so that is a hard question to answer definitively. I know that there are original door handles with the VW logo ground off when they were sold to and bought by people in the after market. Probably the same for pop outs.
